Raccoon Creek State Park
http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/parks/raccooncreek.aspx
This park is one of the largest and most beautiful parks in the Commonwealth. A centrally located lake provides opportunities for outdoor recreation like fishing, boating, and viewing waterfowl and wildlife.

The Raccoon Creek Wildflower Preserve is a botanical wonderland. The 172-tent and trailer campsites are open from the second Friday in April to mid-December. Access is not guaranteed during winter. The campground offers a playground, washhouses with hot showers and a dump station. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Some campsites are A.D.A. accessible. Ten cabins are available for rent year-round. Cabin 10 is A.D.A. accessible.

About 600 tables are located in the park's picnic areas. All picnic areas have grills, drinking water and restrooms. A large Recreation Hall can be rented for group meetings. The facility has modern bathrooms, kitchen and fireplace. Reservations for the hall can be made at the park office.

Boats with electric motors only are permitted on the lake. A boat launch and 42 mooring spaces are available. The largest concentration of hiking trails is by the Wildflower Reserve on the park's eastern boundary. Many other trails are also available in the park. Sixteen miles of bridle trails are in the western part of the park.

The lake offers bluegill, sunfish, catfish, yellow perch, walleye, muskellunge, crappie, sauger, and largemouth and smallmouth bass. Cold-water fish such as brook trout and rainbow trout are stocked and found both in the lake and in feeder streams.

The 800-foot turf beach is open from Memorial Day weekend until Labor Day unless otherwise posted. A bathhouse and a food and refreshment stand are nearby. The park is open year-round.

Ice fishing and ice skating are permitted on the lake. Sledding is also permitted. There are spectacular ice formations at the Frankfort Mineral Springs. Some roads and trails are open for snowmobiling and cross-country skiing.
