Greenwood Furnace State Park Attraction Details
Greenwood Furnace State Park
http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/parks/greenwoodfurnace.aspx
Nestled in the mountains of northeastern Huntingdon County, historic Greenwood Furnace State Park offers a unique recreational experience. The park is on the western edge of an area of Central Pennsylvania known as the Seven Mountains. It is an area of rugged beauty, abundant wildlife, breathtaking vistas and peaceful solitude.

For swimmers, a 300-foot sand beach is open daily from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, unless otherwise posted. The regular hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. A dressing area and restroom are nearby.

Over 50 forested tent and trailer campsites are open from the second Friday in April until the end of antlerless deer season in December. Visitors who don't like to 'rough it' have access to 46 campsites that have either 30 or 50 amp electric service. A washhouse with flush toilets, hot showers and laundry tubs is available.

Picnic tables and seven picnic pavilions are located in a spruce and pine grove setting close to the beach. Call (voice) 1-888-PA-PARKS (voice 1-888-727-2757) to reserve a pavilion up to 11 months in advance for a fee. Unreserved pavilions are free on a first-come, first-served basis. A playground, food concession, volleyball courts and a ballfield make this area popular for picnicking and reunions.

In the winter, ice skating is popular on the lake, and the park serves as a snowmobiling trailhead after the end of antlerless deer season. Several miles of ungroomed cross-country ski trails are located in the park and on adjacent state forestlands. Parking, restrooms and picnic facilities are available at the park.

Many trails within the park and surrounding state forest offer hikers scenic views and glimpses of historical ruins from the 1800's ironmaking community. Contact the park office or visit the park website for more information on the trail network.

A gift shop is located in the Visitor Center, and sells a variety of items.
