The McKeever Environmental Learning Center is folded into a natural wooded setting 75 miles north of Pittsburgh near Sandy Lake, Mercer County. The McKeever Center was established in 1974 and is administered by Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania on behalf of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. The center's year round facilities provide an excellent setting for retreats, workshops or conferences. McKeever specializes in resident environmental education programs for elementary students. Three lodges, a 200-seat auditorium, dining hall, indoor/outdoor classrooms, conference room and an outdoor amphitheater are located on our 205 acres with 5 miles of hiking trails.
