1. Students will be asked to select only 5 of the Amendments in the Bill of Rights that they would keep, deeming the most important. Working in groups, the children would select their 5 amendments and write a persuasive argument for each one. Finally, the class would have a debate where each group would present their work. 2. Students will work together as a class to write a class Constitution which they will all sign. 3. Students will be given make-believe court cases and will decide what basic rights from the amendments, if any, have been violated. The class can create a mock trial and work to convict or free the defendant.

Independence National Historical Park, located in downtown Philadelphia, is often referred to as the birthplace of our nation. At the park, visitors can see the Liberty Bell, an international symbol of freedom, and Independence Hall, a World Heritage Site where both the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution were created. In addition, the park interprets events and the lives of the diverse population during the years when Philadelphia was the capital of the United States from 1790 to 1800. A section of the park where Benjamin Franklin's home once stood is dedicated to teaching about Franklin's life and accomplishments.
