Assessment Strategies

For assessment reference (1) the teacher guides provided for each of the student worksheets on content analysis of Horace Pippin's work, and (2) the Interview Rubric for the final assignment. Other components of student performance you may wish to assess include: • Preparation: Did the student read the handout African Americans in World War I and effectively summarize its contents? Was the homework prepared neatly? Was the summary content appropriate? • Class participation: Did the student contribute pre-knowledge to class brainstorming sessions, distill keywords from readings, and listen respectfully to classmate responses? • Group Work: Did the student work effectively in his/her focus group? Did he/she contribute individually to the overall group effort to analyze the Pippin's work?
