A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words: Public Views of Lincoln

1. Students may want to create their own political cartoons about Lincoln's life. Begin with this thought: "This cartoon never appeared in any publication, but here is one that should have been published." Refer to Worksheet #1 analysis "Funny or Exaggerated?" to help students make a list of questions or points to consider as a scaffold for their work. 2. Students may search for political cartoons in local newspapers that interpret current political events.
