Jay Livingston's younger brother Alan, (b. 1917) followed his brother to Penn and then to Hollywood, where he served as both the president of Capital Records and vice president at NBC, in charge of television programming. The creator of Bozo the Clown (1946), Livingston signed the Beatles for Capital Records in 1963 and brought them to the United States the next year. He also hired his brother to write theme song for Bonanza, created under his direction at NBC.
