Raised in Booth's Corner, PA, Bill Haley (1925 - 1981) in the mid-1950s became one of the world's first "Rock and Roll" stars after his recordings of "Shake, Rattle and Roll," and "Rock Around the Clock" each sold more than a million copies. In the 1950s, Haley was immensely popular in Great Britain, where "Shake, Rattle and Roll" became the first rock'n"roll song to enter British pop charts, in December, 1954.
