In the 1910s Howe added the making and exhibiting of industrial films to his road companies of travelogues. During World War 1, he produced military films that took moviegoers into the action on tanks and airplanes. By the end of war, however, the rise of Hollywood and loss of exhibit spaces forced Howe to end his business of twenty-five years. Howe would die in 1923 at the age of sixty-six.
