By the late 1930s, Fred Waring's Pennsylvanians included a fifty-five piece jazz orchestra and large chorus that sang choral harmonies arranged by Waring. In 1947 Waring would begin annual choral workshops at his 600-acre Shawnee-on-Delaware Inn near Stroudsburg, PA., to teach others to sing like the "Pennsylvanians".
