The signature stone tool of the Paleo-Indian Period is the fluted spearpoint. These examples, on display in The State Museum of Pennsylvania, were made from high quality, fine-grained stone. Removal of the "flute," or central channel flake, required a level of skill rarely achieved by later Indians.
