1898 hopper built by Pressed Steel Car Company.

One of the first steel hopper cars to be built in America, this car was constructed by the Schoen Pressed Steel Company in October 1898, one year after the plant turned out its first commercial order for steel cars. Rugged and efficient, steel cars quickly replaced wooden cars in the rough and tumble world of steel and coal transport.
