Early photograph of the Tioga

Philadelphia was the locomotive capital of America when the Norris Brothers in 1848 built the Tioga for the Philadelphia & Columbia Railroad. This daguerreotype of the Tioga, taken soon after its construction, is one of the earliest photographs of American railroading.
