In 1847 William Goodridge built Centre Hall, a five-story commercial building on the southwestern corner of York’s Center Square. Occupying the first floor with their own family businesses, the Goodridges rented out the other floors to a tailor, insurance company, the York Democratic Press, and other tenants.
