On May 17, 1907, Rachel Carson was born in this small, five room farmhouse, which sat on about 65 acres overlooking the Allegheny River. Formed in 1975 to preserve and restore this National Register historic site, the Rachel Carson Homestead offers education programs which advance Rachel Carson's environmental ethic.
