In 1921 Westinghouse introduced the first factory built radio, a crystal set called the Aeriola Jr. Later that year Westinghouse introduced the Aeriola Sr., whose single vacuum tube regenerative receiver enabled broadcast reception at a greater range. These sets helped fill the popular demand for an inexpensive radio receiver that people did not have to build themselves.
