Local 506 Members celebrate UE victory over IUE at Union Hall, United Electrical Workers, Election Victory in Erie, Pa.,  December 7, 1954

In 1954 General Electric fired union leader John Nelson from his job as a machine set up man. He remained president of Local 506, which that December defeated the rival IUE and its bid to unseat the UE as the bargaining agent for GE’s electrical workers.
