Training women who participated in missionary work linked the Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania to man many countries, and attracted women throughout the world to earn their medical degree at the College. In World War 1 and its aftermath, American women engaged in medical relief work in Europe and Asia played an important role in advancing the standing of women in medicine.
