In 1802 Rev. John McMillan's Latin school was merged into the newly incorporated Jefferson College. This handsome early Victorian structure demonstrates the strides made from the school's humble origins on the Pennsylvania frontier. After it merged with Washington College in 1865, the combined institution became a showcase for liberal arts education and an avenue for advancement for local scholars.
