Still in use today, the Hall of Philosophy was the setting for summer season educational offerings of Mt. Gretna's Pennsylvania Chautauqua. Set beneath towering trees not far from the Camp Meeting Grounds, the Chautauqua attracted visitors from across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. Summer residences and recreational attractions surrounded the Hall of Philosophy. Part tourist venue and part educational uplift, the Pennsylvania Chautauqua proved to be among the most enduring of its kind.
