A small liberal arts college located about 30 miles south of Pittsburgh, Washington and Jefferson became a football powerhouse in the early 1900s. Under coach Alfred Earle "Greasy" Neale (1891 - 1973), Washington and Jefferson battled the University of California to a zero to zero tie in the 1922 Rose Bowl. Neal would go on to coach the Philadelphia Eagles from 1941-1950, and receive induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1969.
