Born in McKees Rock, Pennsylvania, Michael Musmanno was a member of Pennsylvania's Common Court of Pleas before he served as a presiding judge at the War Crimes Tribunal in Nuremberg. After his return to the United States, Musmanno became one of Pennsylvania's most outspoken anti-communists, and served on the state Supreme Court from 1952 to 1968.
