In 1920, the Rand School of Social Science in New York City, a socialist workers" school, purchased a 750-acre summer resort in the Poconos, which Philadelphia's Local 15 had acquired a year before. For the next seven decades, Unity House would serve as an resort and educational retreat for members of the International Ladies" Garment Workers" Union.
