This beautiful park interests historians of the American Revolution. The park takes its name from the redoubt fort built by George Washington's troops in the fall of 1777, before heading to Valley Forge. The park is popular with hikers and bikers. Bird watchers enjoy the seasonal migration of raptors from the fully accessible observation deck. The beauty of the flowering dogwood laces the wooded slopes in the spring. Large open fields provide ample room for sporting activities throughout the year. Historians will find this area abounding with sites of local and national significance.

Flourtown Day Use Area and Militia Hill Day Use Area provide over 300 picnic tables. Two pavilions are available for year-round use, weather conditions permitting. The pavilions are available for rental with advance reservations. If not reserved, they are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Large playfields offer ample room for group or individual picnic activities.

There are 3.5 miles of trails of moderate difficulty throughout the wooded and open fields. A one-half mile, self-guiding nature trail is located in the Militia Hill Day Use Area.

Accessible picnic tables and parking spaces have been designated throughout the park. In the Flourtown Day Use Area there are accessible restrooms. Militia Hill Day Use Area has one accessible picnic pavilion and the Observation Deck.
